The Role of the New Economy Movement

The New Economy Movement, which also organized the event in São Paulo on industrial waste management, now brings the bioeconomy agenda to FlorianópolisThe goal is to promote discussions about the future of this economic model, highlighting new sustainable practices that can be applied to various sectors of the economy.

What is the bioeconomy and why is it so important?

The bioeconomy refers to an economic model based on the use of renewable biological resources for energy production, as well as materials and products, promoting sustainable development. It stands out for reducing dependence on fossil fuels, encouraging innovation, and generating green jobs. In other words, in the face of climate crises, as we recently saw in Rio Grande do Sul, this approach proves to be a viable solution to address global environmental and economic challenges.

What are the main trends in the bioeconomy?

Among the most promising trends is the use of biotechnology to create bioproducts, such as bioplastics and biofuels. Furthermore, the circular economy plays a crucial role, focusing on the reuse of organic waste. Companies are increasingly seeking solutions that combine sustainability and technological innovation, aiming to reduce environmental impacts and maximize the efficient use of natural resources.

What are the challenges for implementing the bioeconomy in Brazil?

Although Brazil has great potential due to its biodiversity, there are significant challenges, such as the lack of integrated public policies, inadequate infrastructure, and the need for investment in research and development. Promoting dialogues, such as the one held in Florianópolis, is essential to overcome these barriers, facilitating the adoption of bioeconomic practices on a large scale.
